When you keep dogs, it is a must you take care of them to ensure they remain healthy. If you have these pets, there are health challenges that come, and you must help them recover. One problem seen in many cases and which the animals suffer from is the Dog Knuckling. When the condition comes, you see paws dragged along the ground when it walks.

If your pet is affected by this, try to treat the same. This is known as a neurological condition affecting them. There are many causes of this problem. It might be small or severe. If it drags the paw when walking on the ground, call the vet and have the problem diagnosed. There are some diseases which lead to this danger and some causing death. Some animals improve over time.

The knuckling might come when playing or walking. One way you can confirm the condition exists is to check as the animals are walking away or coming. When you notice them being unsteady or have the uneven gait, do something to help it recover. Sometimes, the creature will stand and lifts the affected paw, then place the knuckle under.

The next issue that can lead to this problem is when they suffer damaged the nerves. The damages happening come in different ranges, and this starts from the inflammation to severe things like having trauma and diseases. If this happens, the best thing you can do is to treat the damaged nerves. If the damage is big, the problem cannot be treated, but it can be managed easily by the experts.

If the paws are hurting or sore, the knuckling will come. If it arises, you can check the underside. Some sharp objects might be sticking or embedded on foot. When items get stuck, it causes a lot of pain while walking or standing. When surfaces they are standing are hot, this can be an issue. Broken bones in the foot cause it.

When your pet gets affected by vertebral disc disease, it might end up bringing the knuckling problems. Sometimes, the spinal code will degenerate, and this will bring several signs. The owner finds their young puppies struggling because they end up having the strenuous activities and physical trauma. The above will cause stiffness and stumbling.

When these animals start growing old, their limbs become weaker. The age catching up with them means they lose the muscle mass. Some will even have the arthritis condition which slows the nerves. If the above factors come, they end up with affected paws. If the condition comes because of old age, the vet can fix the problem by using pain relievers or steroids. Having routine exercise might bring the healing.

The other cause which might lead to this condition is the tumors growing in different parts of the body. These tumors start impinging on these affected nerves. These nerves will be pressing the spinal cord. When this happens, the tumors might affect the brains, but this can also cause this problem. Some tumors cannot be treated but only removed to help in clearing this problem.
