A Small Apartment Cat Pole Is Good For Feline Fitness

Even though some people enjoy living in a small place, the problem is that there is little room for much else. If a person has interests or things related to things they enjoy, like a shoe collection, space can get tight. Pets can be the perfect roommates but when there is no backyard, keeping them occupied, can be tricky. Many pet owners find that using things, like a small apartment cat pole or indoor trees can serve a purpose for those whose friends are on the active side.

There is nothing like a cat lover and many will do anything to ensure their safety. However, when space is limited, there might be a tug of war when it comes to activity around the house. Even cats that appear more sedentary will want to move around at their own will, not when their human has time or energy.

The idea here is to keep them as busy as possible. Even if a cat enjoys sitting on a human lap or by the window, having something that allows them physical activity is highly recommended. Otherwise, in an energetic state, they are likely to take it out on the furniture or objects around the house that arouse their curiosity.

Unlike setting up an area by a window for them to sit, a pole gives several advantages. The first being that they can go up and down as they please. While this exercise seems minor, it is a lot better than having them climb atop those wall mounted speakers or shelving where precious trinkets are kept. Even if a person has a home office, productivity may be difficult when having to chase someone around the house and make them stay still.

While poles are great for scratching and sitting atop, trees and towers are great for observing. Cats of all ages have a curious nature and the best way for them to become familiar with the happenings is to see them. Seeing things from a top view gives cats a serious advantage, as they may feel as if in control of things. In a sense, they are.

Although going up to the ceiling may be a practical choice, not all cats will respond the same. Chubby cats may not have the stamina since there is pressure on their legs. This is why an adjustable pole is best because it can be lengthened as the cat loses those extra inches around their waistline.

Although some cats with a little extra on them may look cute to some, this is really doing more harm than good. For one, their dispositions can change for the worse and often their bones cannot handle the extra weight. This can make it difficult for them to make those meetings with the litter box, resulting in a messy carpet or other pieces of furniture.

In a small space, placement should be in or near the living room but sometimes a bedroom is better. Since most cats like to stare through windows, this may be the most practical placement. However, it may help to experiment with various locations and take note of any changes in behavior.
